Year 6 into Year 7 transition

At Terrigal High School we consider the transition from Primary School to High School very important in the educational and social development of each student.

To this end, we value our involvement with our local primary schools. Terrigal High School is a proud member of the Terrigal Learning Alliance, a partnership with our two partner primary schools Terrigal Public School and Erina Heights Public School. The transition process continues into High School in Year 7 and Year 8 as we work towards developing the learning skills required for success at High School.

For Year 7 students starting at Terrigal High School in 2025 click here for the Year 7 Information Handbook.

Should you wish to discuss any issues or concerns relating to the transition process please contact:

Specialty Streams

Terrigal High School is committed to promoting engaging and challenging learning opportunities for all students, while supporting them to achieve educational potential through talent development and differentiated learning.

As such, in addition to our vibrant, mainstream learning program, your child has the opportunity to apply for three of our targeted programs:

  • Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Program - for students displaying talent development in Dance, Drama, Visual Arts and Music (Vocal, instrumental, guitar, sound production). A related program is the THS Concert Band. This exciting musical initiative provides students with the opportunity to be part of the THS Concert Band.  It is for students who play a wind, percussion or stringed instrument. Facilitated by Teaching Services Australia Concert Band Conductor Mr Rowan McBride, interested beginners and current instrumenalists are encouraged to join. For more information CLICK HERE

  • High Potential (HP) class - This class caters for High Potiential and Gifted Learners. Students are selected via external testing, portfolio and interview.  Applications will open in Term 3.

  • Targeted Sports Program (TSP) - This well established sports program includes Rugby League, Touch Football, Basketball, Football and Netball.  Students are selected from a Trial Day and portfolio. To find out more about our Targeted Sports Program (TSP) please head over to www.terrigalhspdhpe.com/tsp

Please follow the link below to complete the application form to express your interest in our HPGE pathways. You may apply for multiple programs. Our structures allow students to be involved in both the CAPA and Targeted Sports programs whilst being a member of the High Potential class.
