School counselling service

School counselling staff are members of the school learning and support team.

A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team. As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service. Students can also self-refer to the service.

The school counselling service can:

  • support students who are worrying about school work, friends, getting in trouble at school or feeling down
  • help parents and carers make decisions about your child’s education
  • assess a student’s learning and behaviour
  • help teachers and students identify and address disabilities that may affect learning
  • liaise with other agencies regarding student wellbeing.

School counselling is confidential.

Our school psychologist

Our school psychologist Siobhan Quinn who works with the school counselling services are available to all students. If students have a personal worry it can often be resolved through discussion with Siobhan. Students can make an appointment by coming to the counsellor’s room, located in the administration section of the school.

Student discussions will be kept confidential unless there are reasons to be concerned about their safety. Parents and caregivers are also welcome to discuss whether a referral to the School Counselling Services may be beneficial for their child with the Deputy Principal.

Siobhan Quinn

School Psychologist

BPsych(Hons), PGradDip(Psych), MAPS

Siobhan Quinn completed her Bachelor of Psychology with Honours in 2005 at the University of Newcastle. She is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).  Siobhan has trained and worked in a variety of settings including private practice, hospitals, universities, government and non-government organisations, disability employment services​ and schools. In addition, she has lectured in post graduate psychology programs and has extensive experience in the formal supervision and training of post graduate psychologists. Siobhan uses evidence-based assessments and interventions and consistently strives to deliver expert clinical professional services with a warm, collaborative and individualised approach.
