Religion and ethics

At our school, students can take part in special religious education (SRE) classes, depending on what’s available. These classes are delivered by approved providers.

When enrolling your child, you’ll be able to choose an option from the approved providers offered at our school. Students not attending SRE are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

You’re welcome to change your choice at any time. Just let us know in writing or use the online form (if available at our school).

There are no special education in ethics approved providers available at this school.

Inspire – High potential and gifted education

At our school, we give the right support to help gifted learners to grow and do their best.

We notice these students early. They may learn quickly or show strong skills in creativity, leadership, problem solving or sport. We help them stay challenged with lessons and activities that match their strengths.

Subject Selection at Terrigal High School

Tips for Selecting Subjects
  1. Be Curious and Explore Your Interests
Choose subjects that spark your curiosity and encourage active learning. Exploring new areas can help you develop a love of learning and uncover new passions.
  2. Aim for Excellence
Select subjects where you are motivated to do your best and strive for high achievement. Challenge yourself to grow academically and personally.
  3. Engage Actively
Pick electives that encourage participation, hands-on experiences, and real-world application. Active engagement helps deepen understanding and develop practical skills.
  4. Balance Your Choices
Combine core subjects with electives that broaden your skills in creative, analytical, or physical areas. This aligns with striving for excellence in all aspects of life.
  5. Consider Your Future Pathways
While exploring interests, also think about your future goals and how subject choices might support further education or career ambitions.
  6. Avoid selecting a subject primarily because your friends are doing it. Ultimately you need to select courses that you are genuinely interested in, in order to be successful.
  7. Avoid selecting a subject just because you think you know which teacher might be teaching the course. This could change at the last minute.
  8. Seek Support and Advice
Talk with teachers, career advisers, and family members to make informed decisions that reflect both your interests and the school’s vision of inspiring learning.

By following these tips, students can make thoughtful subject selections that align with Terrigal High School’s commitment to engaging and inspiring learners who strive for excellence in every part of their lives.
